It gonna rain geckos

We have taken six days, made it down to the Lake Worth (about 50 nm) and are ready to go off shore on Monday for the 70nm mile run to Miami. What a change of pace as we unpacked and put away all the important details. We are relearning that hours on the beach and dinner on the grill have everything to do with this cruising life. Nobody wants to hear about just good news so I thought I would spice it up with some of the day to day to day.
We prepared for most situations but Saturday could have been better. I was completing the salt water bucket rinse of the breakfast and prior night’s dishes and pans before getting underway. As I dumped the cloudy salt water overboard was I surprised to see two white correlle dishes sink in the water. A foreshadowing... sailors are a superstitious bunch. We had 20 miles to go and seven bridges that required either a request or were specifically timed to open. Ready to go and the engine will not start. I thought I fixed this problem by installing a new relay so into the engine I went with my hammer to do some tapping. The engine started but it seemed as if it started as I was pushing in to tap near some wires. After some review with Dave the focus switched from the starters to the connection. I thought I sanded and sealed them well. Off we go and after a day of boat traffic and slow bridges we approached our anchorage at the north part of Lake Worth. I was exhausted and wanted to sit back with a beer and nap but not today.
When you find water in the bilge the first step is to stick your finger in it because taste matters. Oh the things you do automatically. Fresh water not salty. Finding the source means ripping up cushions and floors to get at grey holding tanks...not the culprit. Fresh water tanks seem ok. I found a cover on a shower pump container was not sealed. That in itself is not an issue but we left the shower pressurized and for hours the shower head dripped which flowed into the open pump container and with the pump off it overflowed. As we search for the resolution I am imagining the repair of tanks and hoses that now are fine. It was a long 45 minutes. I can now truly say that we don’t bother washing our dishes we just toss ‘em overboard.
On Sunday we were able to anchor near Palm Beach Inlet just off a park with a beach so we could pick up some old friends for lunch on the boat. We enjoyed catching up and Denise made a great lunch. After lunch Walt headed for the Miami airport then to London as first officer on an American flight and Denise took Sheri food shopping. I returned to the boat to watch the Bruins loose as I resanded engine connections. Thanks Walt and Denise for a great visit. We needed  a Sunday like that after a busy Saturday.
On to Miami🌴
